The City of Salem, New Jersey (the “City”) is soliciting bids for the sale of the City’s Water and Wastewater Systems as more fully described in the Request for Bids (“RFB”) available from the City Administrator/Clerk’s office, which is located at 17 New Market Street, Salem, NJ 08079, weekdays between the hours of 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, telephone number (856) 935-0373 Ext. 219, or by downloading the RFB from the City’s website: https://cityofsalemnj.gov/. Bids must be submitted in the form provided in the bid packet.
These bids are being solicited pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:62-3 et seq. Sealed bids must be received by the City no later than June 20, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. and must be accompanied by a bid bond in the amount of $20,000. Bids that are not received by 10:00 A.M. on June 20, 2023 at the City Administrator/Clerk’s office will be rejected.
In the event that the City receives a favorable bid(s), a question will be placed on the November 2023 General Election ballot regarding whether the City should sell the Water and Wastewater Systems. If a majority of the legal voters voting in the election authorize the sale, the agreement of sale will be awarded by the City to the highest responsible bidder, as set forth in the Request for Bids and in accordance with applicable laws.
