Notice Of Intent To Consider Municipal Consent Ordinance Requested By New Jersey American Water, Inc.

Notice Is Hereby Given that, in accordance with N.J.S.A. 48:3-13 and N.J.S.A. 48:3-14, that the following Ordinance will be introduced for first reading at a meeting of the City Council of the City of Salem, in the County of Salem, State of New Jersey, to be held on the 20th day of November, 2023, at 6:30 PM and that, if passed on first reading, said Ordinance will be taken up for further consideration for final passage at a meeting of the City Council to be held on December 18, 2023 at 6:30 PM.

The Municipal Consent Ordinance was requested by New Jersey American Water, Inc. (“NJAW”) subject to the approval of the water and wastewater sale referendum on the general election ballot on November 7, 2023 and NJAW and the City executing an agreement for the sale of the City’s water and wastewater systems.  NJAW is requesting the Municipal Consent to provide water and wastewater service through the systems for the maximum duration permitted by law.

A copy of this notice has also been posted in City Hall, the Salem Free Public Library, the Salem Police Department, the Salem Post Office, and on the City’s website.
